According to the Yunnan Water Transport Working Meeting held yesterday,
in the coming five years, Yunnan will pay as high as 1.1 billion yuan
to develop outward water transport infrastructure. They aim at building
smooth water transport with high loading capacity. This year, Yunnan
will make an attempt to start the expansion of the most upstream port
on Yangtze River, Shuifu Port (Note: It should be Jinsha River on the
northern border of Yunnan Province.), the first phase construction of
Fu-ning Port on You River (bordering Guangxi), and the cooperation with
Myanmar on the joint water and land transport channel.

According to sources, during the 11th Five-Year Plan, Yunnan will
complete the construction for the outward water transport on
Jinsha-Yangtze River and Lancang-Mekong River. They will also build
multi-functional ports on Jinsha River, Lancang River and You River,
and complete the Shuifu Port Complex, Menghan Port and second phase of
Guanlei Port on Lancang River International watercourse, first phase of
Fu-ning Port, Dail's New Port, Kunming Port and etc. They target to
build an additional 1,000 km of navigation channel, so that the total
length of Yunnan's navigation channel will reach 3,764 km by the end of
the 11th Five Year Plan.
