VIetnam's Mekong Delta region looks set to become a large automotive
market in the future despite the current small number of vehicles,
according to the Ministry of Industry.

The area, with a population of 20 million has an increasing demand for
transportation and infrastructure upgrade, it said.

It forecasts the Mekong Delta will require 30% of the nation's automobiles
by 2020, up from only 7% at the moment.

The numbers for southeast areas and the Red River Delta are 31% and 22%.
