The My Thuan Project Management Unit, as the project owner, will kick off
construction of the Can Tho Bridge spanning the Hau River in Southern
Vietnam's Can Tho province in the second quarter of this year, the largest
bridge of its kind in the Mekong Delta.
The bridge is estimated to cost VND4.8 trillion ($ 310.4 million), which
will be borrowed from the Japanese Bank for International Cooperation
(JBIC). The project is divided into three packages. The result of the
second package has been submitted to the Ministry of Transport. The first
and third bidding packages to build the approach roads are scheduled to
begin in the third quarter of this year.
Site clearance for the project is now nearly completed.
