NSW Teacher Training
on Vietnam
In 1999 the AMRC was involved in two training programs with the Research
Institute for Asia and the Pacific (RIAP). The first was a series of workshops
for primary and secondary teachers around NSW as part of the 1999 Access
Asia program. This series, which focused on Vietnam, involved Fiona Miller,
Phil Hirsch and Andrew Wyatt from the AMRC. Together with RIAP Director
Prof Stephanie Fahey and three Vietnamese presenters, the group gave a
series of workshops on contemporary Vietnam. AMRC input focused on environmental
and social issues of Mekong Basin Development. The workshops were held
on Saturdays in Ballina, Wagga Wagga, Newcastle, Wollongong, Bathurst
and Sydney.
